Find Your People Building Deep Community in a Lonely World by Jennie Allen - WaterBrook & Multnomah

Feb 22 2022

This author is very well know in certain circles and I find her interest intrestings, but it is not my kind of author. She shares some important topics but in a very simple and shallow (in my opinion) way. I think you might be inspired by reading her, but that´s it.
Find Your People by Jennie Allen is a passionate, urgent intervention for anyone tired of lonely, hyper-independent living. Allen starts with raw honesty, sharing how her own panic attacks exposed her deep isolation. She argues that modern comfort and self-sufficiency have accidentally destroyed our social lives, and she challenges us to build messy, village-style communities instead.
Allen outlines five essential habits for True community:
  • Proximity: Choosing to invest deeply in the people who actually live near you.
  • Transparency: Overcoming the fear of vulnerability so you can be fully known.
  • Accountability: Giving trusted friends permission to speak honest truth into your life.
  • Shared Purpose: Linking arms with others to serve and look outward together.
  • Consistency: Committing to regular, unmovable time together on your calendar.
This book is a practical, faith-filled kick in the pants to stop waiting for friends to magically appear and start initiating instead. And that reminder is always good.
