Uncluttered Faith Own Less, Love More, and Make an Impact in Your World: A Minimalist Book by Joshua Becker - Penguin Random House Christian Publishing | WaterBrook

Uncluttered Faith Own Less, Love More, and Make an Impact in Your World: A Minimalist Book by Joshua Becker - Penguin Random House Christian Publishing | WaterBrook

For readers who enjoyed Becker’s practical frameworks but wanted a deeper, more intentional exploration of his spiritual worldview, this book bridges the gap. It treats physical decluttering not as the end goal, but as the launching pad for a generous life.
Uncluttered Faith: Own Less, Love More, and Make an Impact in Your World by Joshua Becker is a refreshing, objective look at minimalism through an explicitly Christian lens. Unlike Becker's previous mainstream self-help guides, this book serves as an intentional pivot toward his personal faith roots. He anchors the concept of owning less directly into the teachings of Jesus regarding wealth, greed, and radical generosity. Instead of just offering home-organization tips, it systematically explores how excessive consumerism builds a dangerous barrier to spiritual growth and community impact.
Connecting Becker's Literary Universe
The book acts as the definitive spiritual culmination of his entire writing career, linking back to his most prominent works:
  • The Progression of Ownership: In his earlier bestseller, The More of Less, Becker introduced the philosophical "why" of minimalism. He then followed up with The Minimalist Home to deliver a highly practical, room-by-room physical roadmap for decluttering. Uncluttered Faith takes the physical space cleared out by those first two books and asks what should fill it, arguing that physical decluttering is empty if it does not lead to spiritual depth.
  • The Progression of Purpose: In his subsequent work, Things That Matter, Becker addressed broader modern distractions like technology and ego. Uncluttered Faith scales those ideas down to focus intently on a single, specific rival to human fulfillment: materialism. It repositions minimalism from a mere lifestyle trend into a deliberate choice to remove distractions and notice the Holy Spirit.

If you like this kind of topics, you will enjoy it.

Through the Valley of Grief A 365-Day Devotional of Spiritual Practices for Hope in Suffering by Mattie Jackson - WaterBrook & Multnomah

Through the Valley of Grief A 365-Day Devotional of Spiritual Practices for Hope in Suffering  by Mattie Jackson - WaterBrook & Multnomah

Sep 10 2024

You'll Make It (and They Will Too) Everything No One Talks About When You're Parenting Teens by Amy Betters-Midtvedt - WaterBrook & Multnomah

You'll Make It (and They Will Too) Everything No One Talks About When You're Parenting Teens  by Amy Betters-Midtvedt - WaterBrook & Multnomah

Aug 06 2024

You Are Not Alone A Kid's Guide to Overcoming Anxious Thoughts and Believing What's True by Jennie Allen - WaterBrook & Multnomah | WaterBrook Children's

You Are Not Alone A Kid's Guide to Overcoming Anxious Thoughts and Believing What's True  by Jennie Allen - WaterBrook & Multnomah | WaterBrook Children's

Allen hits again at the heart of the loneliness epidemic with raw honesty, making you feel understood from the very first chapter (when you are a kid, you may suffer about this too). She doesn’t just lament how lonely we all are; she provides a very clear, actionable guide to building deep, messy, everyday community. There are other books about the loneliness epidemic that are more informative, but I understand she has her own style. I´m not sure about how kids are going to take it.

Healing What You Can't Erase Transform Your Mental, Emotional, and Spiritual Health from the Inside Out by Christopher Cook - WaterBrook & Multnomah

Healing What You Can't Erase Transform Your Mental, Emotional, and Spiritual Health from the Inside Out by Christopher Cook - WaterBrook & Multnomah

Mar 19 2024

Cook doesn't offer any cheap platitudes or quick fixes for deep emotional pain, which is exactly why this book works. His approach to processing old trauma is grounded, blending faith and mental health insights in a way that makes real, lasting peace feel attainable. It is not easy to speak about this topic, but it is necessary, and this kind of effort is worthy.

Untangle Your Emotions Naming What You Feel and Knowing What to Do About It by Jennie Allen - WaterBrook & Multnomah

Untangle Your Emotions Naming What You Feel and Knowing What to Do About It by Jennie Allen - WaterBrook & Multnomah

I respect her enthusiasm to keep writing and encouraging reading in her community. If you want to read a personal experience with emotions and personal stories from someone who likes to open up, this is the book for you. The shared content is very shallow if you have previous experience in this topic. If you expect more academic work, if you already know the basics about emotions, if you are a counselor or professional in mental health is better for you to find another type of material or probably go directly to deeper content. This author is honest and very easy to read, but I think she is a communicator and leader, not a writer or scholar. I found J. Alasdair Groves & Winston T. Smith work more compelling. I got this Advanced copy in exchange for my honest review.

Description

NEW YORK TIMES BESTSELLER • The author of Get Out of Your Head provides a revolutionary path to embracing a healthy relationship with your emotions, one that leads to a life-giving connection with God and others as well as to a richer understanding of yourself.

“This book is worth thousands of dollars of counseling.”—Jonathan Pokluda, bestselling author and host of the Becoming Something podcast

How often have you heard, “Don’t let your emotions get the best of you”? But what if instead of ignoring our feelings, we noticed them, named them, and let God use them to draw us closer to Himself and others?

Many of us need to unlearn damaging messages about our emotions. We’ve been taught, for example, that emotions are untrustworthy, when, in fact, God can use them to help us see where we need His healing.

In Untangle Your Emotions, Jennie Allen uses scientific research, biblical insight, and her own story to help you

● exchange stuffing, dismissing, or minimizing your emotions for a five-step process to know what you feel and what to do about it
● debunk the myth that feelings are sinful by learning how emotional maturity leads to deeper connection with God and others
● live emotionally healthy by applying biblical wisdom and therapeutic research that works whether you self-identify as “emotional” or not
● sit with feelings that are confusing and painful by discovering the depth of God’s love and compassion for you

Feelings aren’t something to fix; they are something to feel. As we discover how to name and navigate our emotions, we’ll learn how they can draw us closer to the God who built us—soul, mind, and heart.

The Practice of the Presence of Jesus by Joni Eareckson Tada - WaterBrook & Multnomah

The Practice of the Presence of Jesus by Joni Eareckson Tada - WaterBrook & Multnomah

Bendiciones.

ENG
We live in a world of rushing, of running, where you are applauded if you produce, not if you take breaks. When someone recommends you meditate, reflect, take breaks, listen. I tell you that I spent a long time looking for Brother Lawrence's book. In many books that I respect and authors that I follow, they cited him. In conferences, podcasts and in many other places I heard references to this material, but I never found it. Something told me I should look it up and read it. It was until an Italian pastor died, who was on missions in Mexico and donated many of his books to me, that copy came, very old and worn (which gives it even more value) making it an invaluable treasure for me. Now that Joni Eareckson Tada has this book, talking about this topic as well, meditations to practice the presence of the Lord like Brother Lawrence, I knew right away that I was going to really enjoy it. If within you know that you need to grow in this practice, don't think about it and get it, this is much easier to acquire. Blessings.

Description

Discover the joy of intentionally dwelling in the presence of God as the beloved author of Joni weaves contemporary insights with the timeless wisdom of seventeenth-century monk Brother Lawrence.

"Suffering has a way of heaving you beyond the shallows of life where your faith feels ankle-deep. It casts you out into the fathomless depths of God." —Joni, from the Introduction

Brother Lawrence lived through the drudgeries of monastery kitchen duty during the turbulence of 1600s France. Joni Eareckson Tada suffered a terrible accident that broke her neck and left her paralyzed. This tragedy led her from a life of distant faith to a life as a devout Christian, and she later became a worldwide disability advocate and influencer, sharing her experiences of suffering with grace. In both their lives, they each found the secret to peace, joy, and a way of being in constant conversation with the Father . . . every day and every hour . . . practicing the presence of God.

The Practice of the Presence of Jesus ushers in wisdom from these two everyday saints, more than 400 years apart, to teach and inspire you to experience the nearness of God in your life. Through rich devotional content from Brother Lawrence’s The Practice of the Presence of God, accompanied by original art and never-before-published insights from Joni, you’ll experience a unique blend of past and present wisdom on such themes as humility, thankfulness, fear, worship, obedience, and more. Each devotion ushers you into the peace of the Good Shepherd.

A completely enchanting story that made me want to look much closer at every painting I pass. The magic system is so clever and beautifully woven around classical art, making it the perfect family read-aloud that captures the imagination of both kids and parents.

Grace in the Gray A More Loving Way to Disagree by Mike Donehey - WaterBrook & Multnomah

Pub date: Jan 17 2023

As a reader who often struggles with how polarized everything feels online, this book felt like a deep breath of fresh air. Donehey has this incredibly gentle, conversational way of challenging you to look for nuance and kindness instead of just trying to "win" every argument. I hope each person (no matter their religion) could question themselves about this topics.

Things That Matter Overcoming Distraction to Pursue a More Meaningful Life by Joshua Becker - WaterBrook & Multnomah

Things That Matter Overcoming Distraction to Pursue a More Meaningful Life by Joshua Becker - WaterBrook & Multnomah

Apr 19 2022

Have you read the other Becker book? He likes this kind of topics. Mee too. Things That Matter by Joshua Becker is a gentle but convicting wake-up call for anyone who feels like their life is slipping away to modern noise. Writing with the warmth of a trusted friend, Becker confesses how easily he still gets pulled away from his own family and goals, which makes his advice feel deeply relatable rather than preachy. He brilliantly shows that minimalism isn't just about cleaning out a closet—it is about clearing out mental clutter so you can actually live with intention.
Overcoming the Modern Distractions
Becker identifies the specific, everyday traps that quietly hijack our focus and energy:
  • The Screen Trap: How mindless scrolling and the constant itch for digital affirmation hijack our daily attention spans.
  • The Accumulation Trap: The exhausting mental and financial toll of chasing consumerism, bigger paychecks, and newer possessions.
  • The Approval Trap: How easily we waste decades chasing external accolades or living out other people’s expectations for our lives.
This book is a refreshing, faith-informed guide to reclaiming your time before it is too late. It forces you to look in the mirror and ask if your daily habits actually align with your deepest values.

Find Your People Building Deep Community in a Lonely World by Jennie Allen - WaterBrook & Multnomah

Find Your People Building Deep Community in a Lonely World by Jennie Allen - WaterBrook & Multnomah

Feb 22 2022

This author is very well know in certain circles and I find her interest intrestings, but it is not my kind of author. She shares some important topics but in a very simple and shallow (in my opinion) way. I think you might be inspired by reading her, but that´s it.
Find Your People by Jennie Allen is a passionate, urgent intervention for anyone tired of lonely, hyper-independent living. Allen starts with raw honesty, sharing how her own panic attacks exposed her deep isolation. She argues that modern comfort and self-sufficiency have accidentally destroyed our social lives, and she challenges us to build messy, village-style communities instead.
Allen outlines five essential habits for True community:
  • Proximity: Choosing to invest deeply in the people who actually live near you.
  • Transparency: Overcoming the fear of vulnerability so you can be fully known.
  • Accountability: Giving trusted friends permission to speak honest truth into your life.
  • Shared Purpose: Linking arms with others to serve and look outward together.
  • Consistency: Committing to regular, unmovable time together on your calendar.
This book is a practical, faith-filled kick in the pants to stop waiting for friends to magically appear and start initiating instead. And that reminder is always good.

On Living Well Brief Reflections on Wisdom for Walking in the Way of Jesus by Eugene H. Peterson - WaterBrook & Multnomah

On Living Well Brief Reflections on Wisdom for Walking in the Way of Jesus by Eugene H. Peterson - WaterBrook & Multnomah

16 Nov 2021 Pub Date

On Living Well by Eugene H. Peterson is a beautiful, calming collection of pastoral wisdom that feels like sitting down for a quiet conversation with a grandfatherly mentor. Released posthumously, this book compiles previously unpublished short writings, weekly newsletter excerpts, and sermon snippets from Peterson's 29 years as a local pastor. It completely avoids the heavy academic tone found in many theological texts, offering instead a grounded look at how to find sacredness in ordinary, daily life.
Rather than demanding complex spiritual regimens, Peterson invites readers into what he famously termed a "long obedience in the same direction" via several key themes:
  • Becoming More Human: A core takeaway of the book is that growing closer to Jesus doesn't make us ethereal or detached. Instead, it makes us deeply, authentically human, embracing our everyday lives with frequent humor, honesty, and grace.
  • The Beauty of Simplicity: Peterson challenges the modern obsession with efficiency, performance metrics, and anxious power plays. He redirects focus back to fundamental practices like quiet prayer, genuine community, and patient generosity.
  • No Moral Cop: Reflecting his decades in ministry, Peterson explicitly notes that his goal was never to act as a "moral policeman". His writing gently nudges readers toward personal confession and inner peace rather than rigid behavior modification.
Because the entries range from a single short paragraph to a few pages long, On Living Well makes for an exceptional daily spiritual touchpoint. It is a soul-nourishing read for anyone tired of superficial self-help metrics and looking for an invitation to slow down.

Description

In these never-before-published stories, sayings, and biblical teachings, the beloved author and translator of The Message Bible shows us how the wisdom of deep faith helps us live well.

“Calming, encouraging, and profound.”—Matt Chandler, lead pastor of The Village Church

“Jesus’ words bring us the news of an expanded world, a bright world, a full-dimensioned world, a world in which God rules, mercy is common experience, and love is the daily working agenda.”

Eugene H. Peterson (1932–2018) was one of the most beloved authors, pastors, poets, and professors of our time. While millions have read his bestselling paraphrased Bible translation, The Message, far fewer have heard his direct practical insights and wisdom about how to live well.

Eugene knew the extraordinary spirituality of ordinary life. He understood that we actually become more, not less, human as we grow to live like Jesus. And living like Jesus means living well.

On Living Well is a collection of Eugene’s never-before-published asides, ponderings, stories, and sermons. It’s designed to help you walk in the way of Jesus with a little more courage, passion, and hope—by offering new ways to practice generosity, community, prayer, simplicity, worship, inner peace, and so much more . . . even with the challenges of today.

This book is a rich feast for the soul, ideal as a daily spiritual touchpoint or simply to nourish a heart hungry for pastoral wisdom. It is your invitation to enter into the meaningful simplicity of life with Jesus in a world of immense beauty, real difficulty, and endless wonder.
