Beneath the Swirling Sky by Carolyn Leiloglou - WaterBrook & Multnomah

Beneath the Swirling Sky by Carolyn Leiloglou - WaterBrook & Multnomah

A completely enchanting story that made me want to look much closer at every painting I pass. The magic system is so clever and beautifully woven around classical art, making it the perfect family read-aloud that captures the imagination of both kids and parents.

It is sad for me to think about all the children who are currently concerned about everything they hear in the media, virtual schools, and even with their own parents. The pandemic has helped everyone's stress and concern levels rise. This little book is a good idea to get closer to a little one and start these conversations, to see how their heart is. Sometimes they do not know how to verbalize their feelings when they are very young, they still do not have words to express with certainty how they feel and you can only detect some strange, unusual behavior. It is good to have resources and opportunities like this, to give them words, vocabulary about their emotions, and to be able to minister to their little heart. These kinds of small picture books are also a good idea to have in counseling offices.

Authors who write fiction intrigue me. I think Andrew Peterson is brilliant as a songwriter, singer, and writer. With his book "Adorning the Dark" he beat me. His sagas are full of adventures and eye-catching for children. I do not know if they will be translated into Spanish but I would like to give them to children I appreciate. I like when an author knows that his work on a story is over, but when he knows that his brain will continue to have fanciful ideas and can continue to expand interesting stories for lovers of the saga. This is excellent teamwork that can not only capture your children but explode your mind as an adult as these gifted people take you on a journey through the mazes of their imaginations. What a delight he imagines meeting and working with such people. I hope you really enjoy your work through this book as well.

Fix it With Focus by Bryan Smith, Illustrator: Lisa M. Griffin - Boys Town Press

ENGLISH:

"Mom What happens to me?! I just can concentrate, it is so hard for me to focus... my mind just likes to travel
" My 10yo told me... kind of having fun and kind of being desperate because the pile of homework was overflowing. I have a little artist who needs also to focus.

I thought this book would be a good idea so she wouldn´t feel like she is the only person with that problem (in our house, the rest of us are very good about focusing and being silent working...). The little book has a very useful acrostic that helps children to have in mind what steps they may take to concentrate. The illustrations are cute. It may be fun for a boy or a girl, not only boys deal with that)

F igure our what your job is

O utline the steps

C oncentrate on your job until it´s complete

U se your focus tools

S top only when the job is finished

We learned about the work/brain break cycle.

The author uses the acrostic and fun little anecdotes the boy has to teach these tools to children. At the end of the short book he writes some more ideas for parents and educators if they have children around who need to fix it with focus. This book has not religious references.

Livi & Grace by Jennifer Lynch - Greenleaf Book Group

My girl doesn´t have a sister, sadly...neither do I. Yes, very, very sad, I know... That is why I like this book the most, because we always look different from one another, inside and out. There is not another girl like us, not even one biological sister around. Sisters are different as the author shares with so much grace.

I think this book is made with so much accurateness about how girls may differ in many things but they can still be friends. We were laughing together and having so much fun while we were finding things we were like Liv and Grace, and others very different, and how our friends are different as well.

The illustration is beautiful, my girl wanted to draw some copies inspired by the ones she saw (a little artist in my house, she is 8). I think this will be a great gift for some of her very different friends, so they can enjoy who they are, just the way God made them.

One of my goals on vacation is to read one book per day with her, way to go mom! we invite you to do the same!, so prepare!

This book will be published 11 Jun 2019, we were so honored to see "behind the cameras" make sure you get a copy!. Pre-order here now! #aff

Benji and the Giant Kite by Alan C. Fox - Clavis Publishing

Benji and the Giant Kite by Alan C. Fox - Clavis Publishing

I didn't know what to expect when I got this book. But we have lovely memories with Kites in our family. My 8yr old girl liked it. What I take from this book is a lovely talk with my children about hard work and saving money to be able to get what they want, not need. They need to enjoy what they have. Nowadays children think they deserve everything and that is not right, thankfully is something that we talk about a lot in our house, books like this may help you talk about it with your children, but most of all I recommend you to take them to see real-world problem issues. This is my honest review for #BenjiAndTheGiantKite #NetGalley
"Let's go fly a kite! An inspiring read-aloud picture book about ambition, perseverance, and kite-flying from bestselling author Alan C. Fox. For aspiring aviators ages 4 and up.

In a small shop, Benji sees a beautiful kite. It’s huge and it’s bright orange. But the kite is also very expensive. Benji takes on all kind of jobs to earn the money to buy it . . . Then finally, the day comes he can fly the kite!"
