Chasing Perfect Peace and Purpose in the Exhausting Pursuit of Something Better by Alisha Illian - Harvest House Publishers

Chasing Perfect Peace and Purpose in the Exhausting Pursuit of Something Better by Alisha Illian - Harvest House Publishers

When I read the description of this book I had a huge laugh (especially in the part about washing your face and the hustle). I like it when girls focus on God instead of themselves, culture or what other people say. Firstborns may benefit themselves a lot of this kind of topic, to grow in gratitude and have your priorities clear. It is not a very deep book but a practical one even people who don´t read a lot may understand.

This is not exactly a book, but a short little booklet is going to be enjoyable for you if you like Lysa TerKeurst. I liked the way she talks about obedience and If you read her book "When Women say yes to God" you will see that is kind of the same content (I´m not sure if it exactly the same because I gave the other one away). I had a nice memory about when I was single and I also felt I had to give my bible away... in a bus station. And later a book in a plane never imagined the same thing happened to someone else and it was written in a but. That was fun. I obviously didn´t "hear" the voice of God in my ears, but it was like an inner conviction inside that I should do it (just to let it clear: I wanted to keep my book and my bible, didn´t intend to give them away). I already read the book she is referring to and didn´t know it was about it when I got this one. I must admit I don´t like the title very much, because it sounds kind of mistic and I believe the Word of God is written and we can have access to it, with no need of guessing what is he telling. I like that she admits she has never heard (audible) the voice of God. She talks about impressions and thoughts. There are study questions and I just invite you to check it out and find out if you find it helpful or not. We all need to be very into God´s word so we can discern his will. We need to separate feelings from His Word. Not my favorite by her, one must admit. She has other great titles by the way.

I found myself crying in several pages… very sensitive topic...and this was not my plan (to cry). To be honest I was doing research for an article… and I didn´t find another book with biblical approach to this relationship… so… I am thankful this author was brave enough to talk about such a hard topic. I didn´t know exactly what the content was going to be, I just can say: the book exceeded my expectations.

This is the first book I read about dealing with relationships mother/daughter. I was amazed about how the authors dealt with very sensitive issues with depth, clarity, and empathy. I was confronted with so many things, not just about the relationship with my mom but I was also challenged about how I am going to live my own motherhood and my relationship with my daughter.

I imagine when she grows up and I think I´m going to implement a lot of things that I learned in the book. One of my favorite chapters was number 7, when they talk about “With no permission comes no advice”, I won´t give a spoiler. I wish this material could be in the hands of every friend I have who suffers complicated stuff and soon find it in Spanish for my Latin friends who don´t read English. What joy was to get to know this author through their words.

I think this book would be a great Mother´s day gift.

The John MacArthur Handbook of Effective Biblical Leadership by John MacArthur - Harvest House Publishers

The John MacArthur Handbook of Effective Biblical Leadership by John MacArthur - Harvest House Publishers

Pub Date 02 Apr 2019

Every book on leadership by a leader who has stayed for a long way I think is worthy of being read. While I don´t enjoy some things about MacArthur I have to admit that a lot of his writing is enjoyable and has wisdom in it. I think we must separate our personal leadership preferences to keep learning from others. Above reproach sounds very very high, but it is what the bible says. I think leaders may benefit from this reading, and also people who are not leaders but they like this kind of topic.

The Ultimate Bible Knowledge Challenge A Collection of Bible History, Trivia, and Fun Facts by Stan Toler - Harvest House Publishers

You can get it here: https://amzn.to/2H0Vdxw

This book is useful if you want to have some ideas handy for trivia with your family, your small group or discipleship meetings. I remember when I was younger, youth leaders were very into providing different ways for us to get knowledge. I hope most groups go back to seed truth in other minds, not just pizza parties, and trying to be cool. It is also helpful to have topic related facts in one place. For example, we had a nutrition related meeting for women at church and you can find food-related miracles in the bible. In a marriage retreat also was helpful because you can see in a glimpse 12 important married couples of the Bible. If you are such a nerd you will enjoy all the facts inside this book.

When Grace Walks In by Stacey Thacker - Harvest House Publishers

When Grace Walks In. Passionately Pursued, Incredibly Loved. By Stacey Thacker. Harvest House Publishers.

Lloré y me abrazó.

When Grace Walks In. Passionately Pursued, Incredibly Loved. By Stacey Thacker. Harvest House Publishers. It launches today! September 4th, how great is that?! You can pre-order it here now

Today is the day of the release of this book, and I have many deep thoughts on the subject of grace. Especially from the last month until today.

The best thing that this book left me is the realization that I need to study the book of Ephesians better, go directly there and study it myself, in my step and deep.

I am grateful that this copy was provided to me before its launch, for its review and my sincere opinion. It is the 1st book I read about this author and I still do not understand her style or her particular way of organizing thoughts, maybe it is a matter of time, to know and read her more, as it happens with each new author. Personally I do not like much when they tell so many personal things (even if they apply the theme) or when they mention so many other authors, because in fact, I end up liking quotes more than the author's content and that makes me feel like "it's not fair".

I know that each personality and proofs of life are different, and for that reason I know that I need to read more on this subject in a personal way for more than to understand it intellectually, to live it every day.

I am grateful for people like Stacey and the time they put into writing their own studies and reflections so that others can understand it too. I know that I need to pray more for greater faith and confidence to enjoy grace in a fresh and different way. I can rest knowing that He who began the work in me is sufficient in grace and truth. He is enough. I hope in the not too distant future to continue writing about this topic.
“You’re going to be fine. You’re going to be great.”I teared up, and she hugged me. “Really? Do you think so?”I choked out. “I know it.”

I share this paragraph, maybe you need to hear it today:

"When you are weary, he is not. When you feel like you can’t love one more person, God is just getting started. If you are faithless, he is faithful. When you want to quit, he has endless energy and power to keep running. All that you need, he already has. And then he has more. Glory. This makes me want to pray as well. God, you want us to know you. You bring us into your family. You give us your name—a name that is true and rich and everlasting. No one can change that name. We are your daughters. And then you lay a rich foundation of love. You root us there. You love and love and love. You pour it out so deep that we have the chance to grow in it forever. But you don’t stop there. You extend the invitation to be known. Some leaders don’t always want to be truly known. They withhold parts of their story; they show us only the parts they want us to know. But you don’t do that. You are an open book—literally with your Word. With an extended hand you tell us to explore who you are. You delight in us knowing you. You give us your worth through Christ. Your grace makes us who we are. You put us in your family, a place of belonging forever. May we endeavor to know you, to search out these riches all the days of our lives, and to live in that love. Let it flow from you to us to others. That love is the truest love there is. I know it is true of us. I know it is available. I believe that if we truly do lay hold of it, we would not let go. Because you won’t let us go—ever."

Lets pray to be able to find and enjoy grace everyday.
